So many great quotes to spice up the intriguing story.notagainhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02915679111849352765noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248447883714712696.post-3364823358133159002011-09-18T23:51:33.825+10:002011-09-18T23:51:33.825+10:00PS: I'd never heard of the hamlet of Cherry Fo...PS: I'd never heard of the hamlet of Cherry Fork, Ohio, but I see you that Google even offers street views of it. I saw one of those Google Street View vehicles driving through my own neighborhood the other day. They're brightly marked and have a turret on them that contains the camera. There must be tens of thousands of them. -- Sorry for the digression!Richard Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16232053429935587826noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248447883714712696.post-65771299848407497412011-09-18T23:47:59.285+10:002011-09-18T23:47:59.285+10:00Another eye-opening piece of research!

He never dreamed that his perfidy would be discussed a century later.

I suppose there is a chance, though, that his design really was developed independently from Hanson's. The patent office apparently thought it was different enough to merit a separate patent.

I do wish that the typewriter had been built in some quantity. It's a wonderful design. If I had one, I would display it proudly and create some typecasts from Cincinnati ending "Sent from my Nickerson Automatic Typewriter."Richard Phttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16232053429935587826noreply@blogger.com
