Facey. From his brutal first days on a "station" where he worked like a dog, was whipped by drunken cowboys, was lost and rescued by aborigines, to his severe wounds during WWI, to his days driving a tram and raising a family, all while battling his war injuries and his brave and towering decision to sum up with gratitude, declaring himself one who lived a "fortunate life"... Facey impresses as a many who makes what he must of what comes his way, and helps build a life for all around him.

Dora Cooke's story has a similar ring--work hard, help others, be upright. Must look for it.
This book is plain spoken and utterly beautiful.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
