All by Litton Industries at this point, I'm gathering.
Do you know if they were all identical? I find their styling to be stunning - crisp and clean, and also good typers!!Don Lamperthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10033476212606822358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248447883714712696.post-50705122970858873712013-05-30T00:52:14.741+10:002013-05-30T00:52:14.741+10:00I'm glad to see that the midsized Smith-Corona...I'm glad to see that the midsized Smith-Corona got high marks. Does make you wonder how competent they were with typewriters.Robert Messengerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04366507489948676594noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248447883714712696.post-68394823013809679472013-05-29T14:38:25.244+10:002013-05-29T14:38:25.244+10:00A good post Rob, as I remember many years ago read...A good post Rob, as I remember many years ago reading one of them regarding small portable typewriters and came to the conclusion that they did not really know what they were doing.
They seemed to emphasise the least (to my mind) important features over the most important ones
The fact that they reviewed the Brother so many times in it's various disguises just makes you wonder about the usefulness or validity of their other conclusionsJohnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02138302382154651383noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5248447883714712696.post-19834397714370468502013-05-29T13:49:49.370+10:002013-05-29T13:49:49.370+10:00Surprising that they reviewed that Brother so many...Surprising that they reviewed that Brother so many times.
Thanks for these vintage magazine scans, I really enjoy looking at those pieces of ephemera. Now I know which Adler J models match the Gabriel models.

I like the review on the end of line spaces and bells. That is one thing I like about Smith-Corona, generally loud bell and enough spaces to finish a word and sometimes a sentence before the lock.

I wonder why all typewriters were not made with loud bells.Bill Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14649212489891769390noreply@blogger.com
