I try my best to photograph my typewriters in their best light. But when the Canberra Museum and Gallery took 12 of my typewriters to a professional photographer, Rob Little, the result was that my amateur work in this area was very cruelly exposed. Rob photographed the typewriters for publicity and promotion material for the exhibition, which opens at the museum in a fortnight.

Wow. These images are great! That is probably the best image of an animal keyboard floating around the web.
ReplyDeleteI hope the show goes well. Will they have machines out for people to type on?
Stunning photographs indeed! I love these.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dwayne and Scott.
ReplyDelete@Dwayne: Tension is mounting as opening day fast approaches. Another big pick up of machines this week. In the meantime, I'm racing to get a book completed to coincide with the exhibition.
Yes, there will be three Olivetti Lettera 32s and an IBM with a Blick keyboard for public use.
Can't wait to get my hands on that IBM. That's going to be OH so interesting.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I hope the show goes well, Robert. Best of luck with it and stay calm. Try not to cringe when the punters (and their kids)press down too many keys at once and make the typebars lock up.
ReplyDeleteHey Scott, I'm sort of hoping you'll take it home with you, along with the Erika!
ReplyDeleteTino, it'd be great to see you here. Any chance?
Very nice work, Mr. Little.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen a nicer Bennett than yours, Robert. Usually the finish is messed up and the decals are scratched.
Very very beautiful typewriters and photography. I do not know which I like best. The red Corona Special maybe.
ReplyDeleteAll the best for your exhibition.
Thank you Richard and Bill. very kind. I haven't had much time to post lately, between the book and the exhibition. Things might lighten up a bit of Thursday.
ReplyDelete@Bill, the Red Special is one of my absolute favourites, too. I've been offered a lot for it but would never part with it.
@Richard. that's most kind of you. I have two of these, and they are pretty close in quality. I also have the Junior, which is in A1 condition, so I consider myself very fortunate.
I would love to attend, Robert, but 2012 has decided to test my patience, my bank balance, and my time. However, you never know. If I can swing the time, I'll be sure to make the effort to visit. Thanks and best of luck with it!
ReplyDeleteRobert, thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteThe photography here is top-notch indeed, your twelve typers look absolutely stunning. Perhaps incrementally, you can commission a pro like Rob Little to photograph your collection... or perhaps I don't know what I'm saying since that might cost you more than what you'd want to spend.
