* I have a personal interest in this story because it turns out Ray Strong was the grandfather of a good friend of mine, a young chap who played rugby union alongside me and was my assistant when I was administrator of the world veterans tournament in Perth in 1991. My friend now lives back home in Connecticut and I still sometimes wear my UConn rugby jacket. It's blue.
