  1. Great looking typewriter, or a splendid Splendid.

  2. What an odd colour scheme...

    Oh wait!

    GO ESSENDON! UP THE BOMBERS.

Sorry. Just a bit of the old 'hood coming out. It wont happen again.

  3. All in all, these sturdy little Olympias are my favorite ultraportables.

Which? did include one East German machine, the Kolibri, and they weren't very nice about it.

  4. Thank you Bill, Scott and Richard for your comment.
Yes, Splendid in all regards. Big confession, Scott, I put the black ribbon spool cover from a non-working machine on the otherwise all-bright red beautifully working Splendid 99. But I was thinking of Germany, not Essendon!
Ah, Richard, yes: I always think of the Kolibri as West Germany - all because of that blasted movie The Lives of Others. You pointed out at the time that it was odd to have an East Germany machine smuggled over the border from the West - and that the Stasi wouldn't have a Groma finger(type)print.

  6. Great, little machine and an awesome color combination too! My kids have a first generation SF and a Socialite. I still need to read that article in depth.
