$6 to Convert Blickensderfer Typewriter Keyboard from Scientific to QWERTY (Universal) - or Vice Versa!

What's a "Snail", anyone know?

... or the other way around.

    "Snail" would probably be the return spring, or maybe the whole mainspring assembly? The drawband? I am utterly ignorant of the guts of Blicks, and I'm sure it shows.

    There's no normal mainspring on a Blick, so the snail must be a rigid piece of the mechanism, as Ted suggests.
