Interestingly, my last typewriter purchase of the year was made possible in part by a 1950's Smith Corona holiday poster that features an illustration of Santa Claus holding an Alpine Blue 1950's Silent Super. This poster hangs in our local typewriter repair shop. Every year, the shop's owner places a 1950's Alpine Blue Silent Super from his own collection out for sale as it matches that machine seen in the poster. This year I bought that typewriter. I have no doubt that my memories of this transaction will be especially fond whenever I happen to be using this machine around this time of the year.
