PS: To really cap off this awful year, my relatively new PC has gone bust, hence I couldn't scan this typecast. Just as well I have typewriters, isn't it? And this is why I have typewriters! Windows went ahead and updated to 11 without my permission. It’s happened to me twice this week
. Is there some way of stopping them doing it again? I like the way my PC is set up and the updates remove things I frequently use. It’s a nuisance having to restore it to the way I want it. Not only after that, but after I had run system restore a second time the PC became inoperable.
Happy New Year Robert. All the best to you and Harriet.

All the best for the new year! (:
ReplyDeleteOh, one way to prevent your PC from updating itself to Win 11 is to install Linux on it. :D
HNYear !!!!!!! All the best from Portugal !!!!!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes for you and yours in this new year.
ReplyDeleteYour posts always broaden my horizon a bit - hoping that you continue to enjoy posting as much as I (and many) enjoy reading them!
We run Linux as well have since 2007. Never a problem.
ReplyDeleteI also have a nice Sony Viao laptop from 2003-2004 that came with MS Vista installed as its operating system.
We have never updated this laptop and it runs, even in 2024...and has never, ever crashed.
MS pulled Vista off the market as soon as they realized that they made a "typewriter to last 50 years" with that product.
