What gorgeous graphic art. Where in heaven's name do you find these treasures? Thanks for taking the time to share them. I'm going to pass this on to my artist friends who I know will enjoy them, despite their being a bit puzzled about my typewriter thing.
Here's something I'm wondering about the name Lettera: how is it pronounced? I always pronounced it léttera (basing it on "letter"), but I've also heard it as lettéra. Apparently it is not an Italian word.
Very nice! Some of those old Olivetti ads are so colorful and eye-catching I'm seriously tempted to have them printed a good size, framed, and hanged on my studio walls.
Excellent! Thanks for posting these. I love this "mod style" advertising from that time. Yes, there was a time when I didn't like it.. but as I get older, I see it for what it is. Art!
You know.... I think the L22 is probably my favorite Olivetti machine - thus far. At least from a design perspective. And these advertisements really seem to reinforce that. I was speaking with John just the other night about the Olivetti posters that were provided free to most stores at the time, and he was lamenting how they just threw them away. Particularly as many of them were really true works of modern art.
I do not accept anonymous comments. I only allow comments under User IDs provided I know who that person is. Do not ask me to evaluate typewriters. Comments must be relevant to the post. As the author of these posts, I make the decisions about what they contain - it is not open to discussion.
