What do you get when you cross Gleneagles with On Location out of Street Cry? Or, for that matter, from Donut King out of Via Bendita by Warfare? Or Western Classic out of Doc's Paladin? In each case you get a racehorse called Typewriter. Let me know if you can find any connection in the names. The latest, a two-year-old bay filly sired by Glenagles, has won at her last two starts, the most recent two days ago at Nottingham in England. She has raced four times for two wins and two fourths, and has won $30,000, so no wonder she was at odds of 2-1 in the British Stallion Studs EBF Nursery Handicap at Nottingham. The first Typewriter mentioned here, by Western Classic out of Doc's Paladin, was unanimously voted Jamaica's 2014 Horse of the Year. The other, by Donut King out of Via Bendita, was an American thoroughbred who didn’t do so well between 1976-80, winning three races from 23 starts and a mere $9000. I guess you could say he didn’t really “click”.
