Alpina Typewriter

Lovely post! Thanks for the pictures of your beautiful Alpina. The only one I have seen in person was tan-colored, not quite as attractive as the beautiful silvery finish on yours.

And it's cursive, too, my word! I saw one of those on eBay Germany a while back and was very envious; I didn't even know they existed! You are so fortunate to have one, they must be quite rare.

I have noticed though that the script typeface your Alpina has is the same one that many other manufacturers used for their own script machines - Olympia, Adler, Rheinmetall, Olivetti, Smith Corona etc. So I don't feel too bad about not having a cursive Alpina since my Rheinmetall writes just about the same.

Wow, that really is a gorgeous example of this fine machine. Now I want one in that color too ...

I didn't know about the half-backspace feature!

One model of the Alpina (no, I don't have it) included a decimal tabulator that was activated by pushing the keys on the bottom row of the keyboard away from the typist (into the machine). Unique!
