Olympia Elite Portable Typewriter: Schwarz Schönkeit

Not sure now what to do with the black Olympia Elite I have had for many years. Since this one has one tiny problem - the clasp for the left side ribbon cover has snapped off - I may use it for parts, although it seems a shame to do that just for one small clasp. Maybe I can make one instead.

An absolutely gorgeous and amazing machine. Looks like it was manufactured yesterday! Congrats, Robert!

Well Robert, if you've got a better example of a machine now, I think it is entirely possible to produce a replacement. This might be a job for 3d printing?

Beautiful machine that. I looked at it, and decided against it at the last minute - I just couldn't bring myself to put down the cash for it.

Thank you Ken and Scott. Yes, Ken, I agree, looks almost brand new.
Scott, the ribbon cover sits up a tiny bit on the left, dangerously close to the carriage lever, so I need to be very, very careful not to scratch that beautiful shiny surface. It does need to be fixed. My typing here is very poor because I typed with the ribbon cover up so as not to risk it.

I live not so far away from Stuttgart. I like the reflection of the summer leaves on the shiny top of the machine.

This is a BEAUTIFUL machine, and typeface to match!

Yet another piece of evidence that Olympias are among the best typewriters made. Olympia has recently become my favorite brand.

Wonderful "score", Richard!

Hi I bought today a almost exactly typewriter like the Olympia you have. The only difference wich I find is that instead of being a Olympia mine is a Optima. I have tried searching for it in the internet but there is absolutely no information about it. May be you could help me around. Hopefully you can write me back. yeicko@gmail.com I bought it in a antique store in Berlin and, to my eyes, is in a great shape. Happy new year.
