Welcome to This World With a Princess Portable Typewriter

While Kate and Will Wales were having their excitement with the arrival of the Prince of Cambridge in London, in South Australia avid typewriter lovers Ray Nickson and his US-born wife Alice were welcoming into the world their first child, 7lb 10oz daughter Cynthia Sue Nickson. Not sure what typewriter Ray and Alice will be adding to their growing collection to mark this wonderful occasion (certainly not another Underwood Noiseless, I would presume!). But on this royal day of births, I can think of no better a "Welcome to This World" gift for Cynthia Sue than a Princess. This is the typewriter I will be sending her:

That's a fine-looking burgundy beauty, with just the right amount of chrome accents. I like to imagine Cynthia Sue, as an adolescent in not that many years, astounding her friends, who have probably never seen a printed word on paper, with typed notes.

A thought occurs - when gifting typewriters, to seed the writing urge, include some stationary with a custom letterhead, built from one of the great graphics you collect.

Thank you, Robert, for thinking of us. I am sitting here in hospital with Cynthia sleeping beside me and we both think this is a beautiful gift.

Robert, thank you so much. I posted a reply earlier that doesn't seem to have appeared. Alice also wrote a message but that hasn't appeared either - we were using a bedside television/computer in the hospital so that may have had issues. Alice was really pleased to read your post this morning and Cynthia will treasure her typewriter I am sure. I just came home from a day at the hospital and Alice and Cynthia are both well.
