A Funk(y) 1979 History of the Typewriter

1968 advert

*Funk & Wagnalls is wrong. Charles Thurber was just plain old Charles Thurber, not Charles Grover Thurber. This is a popular misconception.

Do you think they wrapped the typewriter in tin-foil in the advertisement to stop it being put under government control?

Nice find though. And entry is also very interesting.

And there was I thinking using the word "funk" in relation to typewriters was a new phenomena!
