This is one of the very special typewriters which will be on show at the first-ever Australian Type-In, in Brisbane on Sunday, March 10. Others will include a Remington 2 Standard and a Blickensderfer 5, an IBM Selectric with a Blick keyboard, an Underwood 4 USB typewriter and a Hammond Multiplex. That's a very swish Corona 3. There will be photo evidence for those of who can't make it to this type-in, won't there? For those of us who still want to see this ensemble of machines?
Wowwww .... classy! Did you have this done?
Thank you so much Jasper and Richard.
Yes, Jasper, Scott and will undoubtedly be armed with cameras at the Type-In. Our American and Swiss cousins have shown us how well these events can be done, so it's up to us now to emulate them.
Hi Richard. No, it was owned by what I understand to be an aged gentleman (collector?) in Melbourne. I gather it was on display there. I haven't been given much background on it yet, but from what I can make out the gold-plating was done in England, many, many years ago. I'll let you know more if I get more background.
Oh wow!!!
Wow!
Is the Type-In going to be a whole day event? I'm just looking up flights :p
Very, very nice! It looks like the platen rubber is fairly new as well - I bet it types nice (:
Looks like it's Type-In Season again, very pleased to see the ever-growing down under gang get in on the fun! Looking forward to detailed photo-heavy reports!
Thank you Ted and Nat. Yes, Ted, is types very well. Sorry I didn't do a typecast, but it's packed away now.
Nat, we haven't settled on times yet, I don't think, but I'm sure at this stage we can fit in around your flight schedule. We'd really, really love to meet you there!
The Corona 3 is my dream typewriter. Seeing it in gold is just amazing for me, even through online pictures. :)
That Corona No.3 is just stunning. Absolutely gorgeous! Good luck at your type-in. I can't wait to see the stories and pictures about it.
Thank you Vikram and Tom. We'll be thinking of you guys, of course, and hoping to maintain the best traditions of Type-Ins. We may need a few tips.
Vikram, I know what you mean. There is a small image of a gold-plated Corona 3 on page 116 of Adler's Antique Typewriters, from This Olde Office, Cathedral City, California, and I well recall how it jumped out of the page at me.
That is a gorgeous machine!
